Welcome to your Sharm Travels Trip Style tour! On your voucher it will be indicated the location and time at which we will pick you up to start the tour.
During this stage we will have the opportunity to visit some of the beaches protagonists of the Normandy landings, which was the beginning of a long and hard campaign to liberate northwestern Europe from Nazi occupation. We will leave Paris around 08.00 hrs. We travel directly to OMAHA BEACH where we will visit the Monument to the Brave, the Memorial Museum (entrance included) and the American Cemetery. We will continue to ARROMANCHES another of the decisive locations where the British and American troops arrived. It is currently a very popular coastal destination. Time for lunch.
We continue to JUNO BEACH, where the Canadians landed to later join the British in the offensive. We will visit the Juno Beach Center (entrance included). After that we travel to CAEN, known for its rich history, its castle built by William the Conqueror in the eleventh century and its Abbey of Men, a Gothic church built in the eleventh century. It is a vibrant city with a lively student life and a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops. With our guide we walk through the center. We will visit the Memorial Museum of Caen, it is a Peace Museum that recreates history from 1918 to the present day (entrance included).
Early in the morning we head to ROUEN, capital of Normandy, a city that, although it was seriously damaged during World War II, is an authentic museum city known as "the city of a hundred bell towers". We will have time to visit its Gothic Cathedral and stroll through its medieval streets. Next, we go to EPERLECQUES, where, located in the forest of this town, we will visit an immense bunker from which the Germans launched missiles towards England during the Nazi era (entrance included). We will continue our journey, and after the stop en route for lunch, we arrive at DUNKIRK, city with the third port of France and therefore, hit by countless wars. World War II saw the most famous evacuation of allied troops trapped on its beaches, which became known as "Operation Dynamo." Entrance included to the museum that illustrates this operation.
We continue to LILLE, capital of northern France that was formerly an important trade center of Flanders, there are still many Flemish influences. The old town, Vieux Lille, is characterized by brick houses of the seventeenth century, cobbled pedestrian streets and the large main square. During World War II the Stock Exchange Palace was used as the headquarters of the Gestapo, visitors can see the commemorative plaque that recalls its sad history. The Memorial of Resistance, Deportation and Liberation, a monument on the Place de la République, commemorates members of the French Resistance as well as citizens who were deported or executed during the Nazi occupation of the city. We will leave Lille for the "Ring of Remembrance" (entrance included), a living museum where the names of the 580,000 who died during World War I appear. A few kilometers from this museum is the Vimy Memorial, an impressive monument built by the Canadians to commemorate their 66,000 casualties during the Great War, we will visit part of the trenches and tunnels reconstructed. We will continue to NAOURS, we visit the underground city of Roman origin built in the third century and which was used as a refuge during the two world wars becoming the headquarters of the Nazis (entrance included). After lunch we head to the CASTLE OF PERONNE (entrance included), fortress of the thirteenth century headquarters of the Museum of World War I, brings together collections of military and everyday objects of the civilian populations of Germany, France and Great Britain.
After that we continue to Paris, arrival about 19 hrs.-
