Day 1:

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Arrival. Transfer to the hotel.

Reception. Transfer to hotel and free time. You will receive information about the start of the circuit during the afternoon, or you can check the informative panels in the hotel reception area.


IMPORTANT - IF YOU REQUESTED ADDITIONAL NIGHTS on arrival at the hotel you will have your booking made but the guide of your trip will normally not arrive until the start of the included activities. YOUR TIME BEFORE THIS MOMENT IS THEREFORE FREE. At your hotel they can help you with all the information you need.


NB: The schedules you will find in this itinerary are approximate. The guide, depending on the situation and in order to improve the development of the circuit, may adjust the schedules.

Day 2: Athens.-

TODAY´S HIGHLIGHTS: City tour in Athens.


We will enjoy a panoramic tour of the city with a local guide which includes the Presidential Palace, the Panathinaikos stadium where the first modern Olympic games were held, the national library, the bustling squares of the center; the new neighborhoods that emerged after the 2004 Olympic games. The tour will end at the Acropolis site (entry not included).


In the evening we include a transfer to the area of PLAKA, a place full of small Greek taverns where you can also enjoy this country´s folklore.



Day 3: Athens- Kamena Vourla- Kastraki- Meteoras- Kalabaka.-

Total distance: 410 km.

Scenery: Views over the sea. Fantastic landscapes in the region of Meteoras, orthodox monasteries.
Notes: Wear appropriate clothing (women will have to wear the skirts that will be given at arrival to the monastery). Also foresee comfortable footwear... you will have to climb many steps in Meteoras!

08:00 hrs. Athens –departure-. We leave for the north of Greece. Pleasant Mediterranean landscapes.
10.15 hrs. - Kamena Vourla – Arrival.- Charming tourist centre by the sea amidst magnificent scenery. Time for a stroll and a coffee.


11.15 hrs. - Kamena Vourla –departure-. Continuation northbound. We make a brief stop at the gorge where the battle of Thermopylae took place.
13.45 hrs. Kastraki- stop for lunch in this picturesque town located at the foot of the Meteora. The views here are magnificent!. After lunch we will visit Meteoras an impressive place declared UNESCO World Heritage, an area that covers a few square kilometers and where an ancient monastic community and a rare geological phenomenon of huge rock pillars coexist in absolute harmony. We will see the whole valley and have the chance to go into one of the most famous monasteries (entrance included).
Accommodation in Kalambaka, a small town in the center of the Meteoras´ region. Dinner included.

Day 4: Kalabaka- Metsovo- Corfú- Kanoni-Preveza.-.-

Distance covered by road: 270 km

Countryside: High mountains in northern Greece. Note: Have some warm clothes in hand to enjoy the deck on the ferry crossing.


08.00 hrs- - Kalambaka –Departure-.
09:15 hrs - Metsovo –Arrival at this picturesque, Balkan tourist village amidst the mountains. This area, which is isolated by mountains from the rest of Greece, maintains its distinct culture of strong Slav and Turkish influence. Time for a stroll and a coffee.


10:30 hrs - Metsovo –Departure-. Impressive new motorway between the mountains.
12:15 hrs- Igoumenitsa. Arrival-. After some time in this active port, we embark on the ferry for an hour and a half’s crossing; pretty maritime scenery along the coast, views of Albania and the island of Corfu. We recommend having lunch on the crossing.


CORFU – Arrival. We are at the island considered the most beautiful of the Ionian Sea. On the bus, we go to see KANONI, a very beautiful white church in the city. Free time afterwards in KERKIRA, the capital of the island. A town of Venetian origin, with very attractive historic centre and powerful fortresses in the port.


Afterwards, we embark back to Igumenitsa, and from there, we continue route to the region of Epirus. After just under an hour and a half of route, arrival in Preveza (about 20.30 hrs variable depending on the time of arrival of the ferry from Corfu). We are in a popular town next to the Ionian, full of life, small restaurants, beautiful cobbled streets and marina.


Day 5: Preveza- Cruise of the islands of the Ionian- Preveza.-

Distance covered by road: 150 km.

Countryside: Very beautiful scenery both on Lefkada island and on the boat, as well as travelling along the coast.
Note: In the case of bad weather, the cruise may be cancelled. An alternative programme will be offered in this case. The cruise may also sometimes take a different route due to the weather.
If the weather is good, travel with your swimsuit and towel, you are sure to enjoy the beaches!


08:00 hrs- Lefkada –Departure-. We travel to the island of Lefkada, which is connected to the continent by a bridge. Very pretty coastal scenery.
09.00 hrs - Nydri. Arrival at this popular spa town. Here, after time for a coffee, we get on a small holiday cruiser with capacity for up to 500 people, which will show us some of the most attractive islands of the Ionian Sea.


Expected departure time of the cruiser at 10.00 hrs. We will travel to PORTO KATSIKI, a beautiful beach; CEPHALONIA, the largest island of the Ionian Sea, where we can stroll around the picturesque village of FISCARDO; ITHACA, the hometown of Ulysses and a stroll in the village of FRIKES; the boat then goes into a hidden grotto in MEGANISI. Our boat also stops at SCORPIO, the island of Onassis, where we are able to swim. Small lunch included on board. Return to the port of Nydri at around 18:30 hrs.


19.15 hrs - Lefkada- Arrival and time for a walk through the active historic center of the capital of the island.
20.00 hrs- Lefkada. Departure and return to our hotel in Preveza. Arrival around 20.30 hrs.

Day 6: Preveza- Nafpaktos- Delphi- Olympia.-

Distance covered: 490 km.

Countryside: Presence of the sea and Mediterranean scenery. Very pretty views in some places.


08.00 hrs - Preveza –Departure-. We travel to the south of Greece.
10.30 hrs - Nafpaktos –in the Gulf of Corinth, the fortress reminds us that we are in Lepanto, the city where the Christian ships came up against the Turks, and the battle in which Cervantes lost an arm. Time for a stroll.


11.30 hrs - Nafpaktos –Departure-. Little villages, huge scenery over the Gulf of Corinth.
13.30 hrs – Delphos – Arrival. Time for lunch and to see the beautiful archaeological complex that overlooks the Gulf of Corinth, with incredible scenery. Entrance included.


16.00 hrs - Delphos –Departure-. We travel towards the Peloponnese, crossing a large hanging bridge that traverses the Strait of Corinth.
20.00 hrs - Olympia –Arrival, dinner and accommodation.

Day 7: Olympia- Patras- Nafplio.-

Distance covered: 290 km. Countryside: Pretty Mediterranean scenery of hills and mountains on the Peloponnese Peninsula.
NB: We suggest sun protection and a bottle of water in the warmer months.


With a local guide, we visit OLYMPIA where you can see the archaeological complex (tour with a local guide and entrance included) which was the cradle of the Olympic Games in antiquity. We will see the Sanctuary of Zeus. After the visit there will be free time for you to visit the museum at your own pace if you like.


11:00 hrs - Olympia –Departure-. Mountain scenery, some picturesque villages on our way.
13.15 hrs - PATRAS –Arrival-. We visit the Cathedral of Patras, the largest in Greece, dedicated to Andrew, the first apostle. This Orthodox basilica is a place of Christian pilgrimage as it contains the relics of St. Andrew the Apostle. Time for lunch and to get to know Greeece´s third largest city.


16.00 hrs - Patras –Departure-. We continue our route through the Peloponnese, travelling to the shores of the Aegean Sea.
18.30 hrs - NAUPLIA, a charming coastal town overlooked by the citadel and Venetian fortress; time for a stroll and dinner included.

Day 8: Nafplio- Epidaurus- Poros- Aegina- Athens.-

Distance covered by road: 85 km Countryside: Today we do most of the route by boat as it is dominated by the Aegean Sea.
Notes: The bus will not travel with us on our trips made by boat (we will meet it again on arrival in Athens). Do not forget to take your documentation with you and everything you might need during the day.
The timetables of the ferries connecting the Greek islands change a lot depending on the time of year, and will be announced very shortly beforehand. The timetable information given here is intended as a rough guide. The boat frequencies between Poros and Aegina are very limited. In the low season, the island of Aegina may be substituted by Hydra.


08:30 hrs –Nauplia - Departure-.
09.00hrs - EPIDAURUS, where there will be time to see its ancient theatre built 2400 years ago; it is magnificently preserved and is still used today, accommodating up to 14,000 people.


10:30 hrs - Epidaurus –Departure-.
11:15 hrs - Galatas – Arrival this small port, where we can see the island of Poros in front. We board a pleasant ferry which in fifteen minutes leaves us on the island of POROS. Time in this charming place full of tourist life; its ancient houses climb up to the clock tower. Time for a stroll and for lunch. After this (on a variable timetable depending on the time of year, a crossing of approximately 45 minutes) we take the ferry to AEGINA, an island inhabited for more than 4000 years, where we can stroll around its ancient churches, its picturesque port and its typical districts of small houses.


In the evening, we take the ferry once more, which takes around 45 minutes to return us to ATHENS –Arrival in the Piraeus, where our bus is waiting – collection of luggage and end of the services if you end your trip here.

Day 9: Athens- Night on board.-

TODAY´S HIGHLIGHTS: Night on board to Rodhes.
Day at leisure. You can enjoy the charm of this city and explore and discover memorable places. At night we will transfer to the port of Pireo and embark on the night ferry, which has similar conditions to those of cruise ships, double berth accommodation. Night on board.


Day 10: Rodhes- Marmaris.-

N.B.- The ferries
that link Rhodes with Marmaris undergo frequent changes in schedules and do not
operate every day (except during summer months). The itinerary may be adapted
based on the frequencies available during your trip.

N.B.: Remember that we are passing to Turkey. Bring your passport wih you. On
the ferry you will need to carry your luggage.




Arrival in Rhodes first thing in
the morning. We start with a city tour of this incredible walled city and the old quarter,
which bears the imprints of the different cultures that shaped it (Greek,
Roman, Byzantine, Knights of Saint John, Ottoman, Italian..).




In the afternoon, around
16:00h, we will embark on the express ferry to Turkey, the journey will last about an
hour.


17.00 h- Marmaris, beautiful coastal touristic enclave with a castle, marina and
fountains. Accommodation in the region of Marmaris. Dinner included.


NOTE: On some high difficulty dates
(especially in summer ), some groups can be accommodated in a nearby town.

Day 11: Marmaris- Dalyan- Antalya.-

Total Distance: 335 km

Scenery: Coastal sections and sections between high mountains. Contrasts.

08.00 hrs.- Marmaris - Departure -.
09.30 hrs.- DALYAN - Arrival -. An incredible place beside a beautiful navigable river. Free time for a coffee in one on its many restaurants by the river, and we include a boat trip of around two and a half hours to see the LYCIAN ROYAL TOMBS.


11.30 hrs.- Dalyan - Departure -. We continue our route. Mountain scenery. Stop en route to have lunch.
16.15 hrs.- ANTALYA - Arrival -. We will make a brief visit of this great coastal city of more than a million inhabitants, the Adrian door, the Ottoman district and its large waterfall falling straight into the sea. Dinner included.

Day 12: Antalya- Aspendos- Side- Karaman- Nigde.-

Distance covered: 530 km

Scenery: Spectacular contrasts; countryside overlooking the sea. High mountains often with snowy peaks; arid lands of Anatolia.


08.00 hrs.-Antalya - Departure -.
09.00 hrs.- ASPENDOS - Arrival - we visit the Roman theatre that many believe to be the best preserved in the world.


09.45 hrs.-Aspendos - Departure -.
10.30 hrs.- SIDE - Arrival -. A small, very tourist city, full of commercial life. You will have free time. Its Greek temple of Apollo by the sea stands out. Time for a stroll around its port and through its streets full of life.


12.30 hrs.- Side - Departure -. Amidst impressive scenery, we cross the Taurus mountains. The peaks, of more than 3500 metres, are covered with snow for a large part of the year. We stop for a meal along the way in a pretty service area in the mountains.
17.00 hrs.- KARAMAN - Arrival -. A city with an oriental atmosphere. Brief stop to view the exterior of the fortress.


17.45 hrs.- Karaman - Departure -. Great arid plains along the route in the south of Anatolia.

20.00 hrs.- NIGDE - Arrival -. We suggest a stroll around its bazaar, its ancient mosque and its fortress. Dinner and accommodation.



Day 13: Nigde- Avanos- Cappadocia.-

Total distance covered: 120 km. Scenery: We continue amid the beautiful landscapes of Cappadocia. Spectacular scenary. Picturesque towns.
Notes: Today it is again necessary to wear comfortable shoes as we continue to explore Cappadocia.





09.00hrs.- Nigde. Departure. We enjoy a full day in the fantastic region of CAPPADOCIA, with its lunar landscapes, its churches and troglodyte villages.


We start by visiting GUMUSLER, an incredible underground monastery of the 7th century with perhaps the best Byzantine frescoes in Turkey. In KAIMACLI we will visit the underground city that could house 30,000 people. Then, we will visit UCHISAR, a natural fortress where we will know its 60 meter rock filled with houses in excavated caves. Time for lunch.


We will discover after lunch the GOREME Valley with its open-air museum and its churches carved out of the rocks, entry tickets included.


Hotel in Avanos. pleasant town in the center of the region of Capadocia known for its pottery, its attractive old town with cobbled streets and its views over the river. Time to enjoy the hotel facilities or walk through the streets. Dinner is included.


At night, after dinner, we suggest attending the "Turkish night" show (optional).

Day 14: Cappadocia- Safranbolu.-

Total distance: 520 km.

Scenery: We begin with arid and flat landscapes of the interior of Turkey, as we approach the Black Sea mountains and forests are emerging.


08.00 hrs.- Avanos. Departure towards to the Black Sea. Stop en route to have lunch.
16.30 hrs.- SAFRANBOLU; arrival in this wonderful little city which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was an important stopping point on the caravan routes. Our guide will show some of the most picturesque points of the city and we will include a traditional Turkish tea in an ancient caravanserai! Dinner included.

Note: Some times, due to operational reasons, there will be a brief stop in Ankara.

Day 15: Safranbolu- Gokgol Magarasi- Eregli- Istanbul

Total distance covered: 460 km.

Scenery: Forests, valleys, mountains, landscapes on the Black Sea; A rainy and green region different from what you probably have in your mind when you think of Turkey.



08.00 hrs.- Safranbolu. Departure. Today, the leg of our trip follows the Black Sea and its verdant landscapes.
10.00 hrs.- In GOKGOL MAGARASI we provide entry tickets to this magnificent cave with its underground river and its multiple colours.


11.00hrs.- Gokgol. Departure. Our road goes towards the sea.
12.00 hrs.- EREGLI, Arrival. Next to the Black Sea, we set aside time to have lunch. We also include a visit to its impressive Cehennemagzi Magarasi caves and tombs that are overflowing with mythology.


15.00 hrs.- Eregli. Departure. We cross once more the mountains towards central Anatolia. We travel on the highway towards Istanbul. Passing the suspension bridge that separates Asia from Europe.
20.00 hrs.- Arrival in ISTANBUL at the end of the day.

Day 16: Istanbul.-

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Sighseeing tour. Topkapi Palace .Night transfer to Taksim.

09.00 hrs.- A sightseeing tour of the city. We find ourselves in a city built in two continents. On our tour, we will enter the Mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent (the largest in Istanbul). We will see the walls, the Golden Horn, the fishing district, and we will admire the exterior of Hagia Sofia. After the visit, we will offer tickets and a visit to the Top Kapi Palace, which was the administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire, with its magnificent courtyards and its pavilions.


19.30 hrs.- At the end of the afternoon we will provide a transfer to the Taksim neighbourhood, the most commercialised and lively area of the city. There will be time to dine in one of its many restaurants, and you can also take the old tram that crosses the area or go to see the nearby Galata Tower. Return to the hotel around 22.00 hrs.


Important: Services during the stay in Istanbul may change order by taking the boat ride on the Bosphorus on the first day and the panoramic visit on the second day.

Day 17: Istanbul.-

Today we include a boat trip on the Bosphorus that will last about two hours. We will undertake the trip on a boat exclusively for Europamundo travellers. The Bosphorus is a strait that connects the Black Sea with the Sea of ??Marmara, which separates Istanbul into two parts: the European part and the Asian one. We will enjoy seeing the liveliness of the strait with its multitude of boats. We will pass under the two bridges that unite Europe and Asia and we will admire the palaces of the sultans, the typical wooden houses and the Ottoman villas. Return to the center of Istanbul.

Rest of the day at leisure. You can go shopping in the Grand Bazaar; visit Hagia Sophia; ... Multiple options in this great capital.

Day 18:

After breakfast, end of our services.

Note: Remember that check-out time is usually at 10.00 hrs. In most cases, you can leave your luggage at the hotel reception at check-out time so you can enjoy the city and pick it up at the time you require that same day. If you need more time to use your room, please consider booking an additional night at the end of your tour.
